Nature
1989-1990
Soldering wire, marbled paper, mylar, black paint, ink and paper
56 x 41 centimeters

The topic of environmental and social breakdown is revisted once again in this collage where nature is defined by a solitary figure floating in a pool of jet black water. Apart from the casually defined marbled paper figure the whole landscape was once uniformly black, the ink used for the sky was clearly a fugitive pigment and it has since faded to pale vestiges.

The mylar circle and strip was intended to represent the photographic artifact of lens flare which occurs when a camera accidentally captures direct sunlight. The intention was to suggest a harsh sun mercilessly baking the suffering natural environment.
